Personal Service

Serving your Master as a "gentleman's gentleman"

Personal Service is what the Victorians would have called "Valet Service". When most people hear the words "Valet Service", they think of the people who take care of parking your car, but that's not what I'll be talking about here at all.

The word Valet in Old French meant servant or squire. The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition defines a valet as:

A man's male servant, who takes care of his clothes and performs other personal services.

Until the decline of the Peerage it was common for a nobleman to keep a personal servant in his employ. This servant was variously referred to as his manservant, body servant or valet. The valet provided very personal services such as caring for his Master's clothes, drawing his bath, dressing him and so on. In this time of egalitarianism, having a valet is almost unheard of, although the position does live on in altered form as the "Personal Assistant".

I really enjoy having my slave kneel in front of me to offer me a beverage, or to remove my boots at the end of a long hot day. Massage skills are great! There are so many little ways you can find to add a little extra to your Master's life! Look for them.
